Cozy Corner in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

the house was cluttered and filthy (especially the bathroom) and the hostess was exceedingly rude and unreasonable in dealing with it. she made us feel very unwelcome and denied that there was human faeces on the rim of the toilet, even as we were standing over it pointing it out to her. eventually when she acknowledged it she said "well, you know what must have happened, i didn't see it when i was cleaning because the toilet seat was down". who cleans a toilet without raising the toilet seat???? the fact that she charged us $50 for a "cleaning fee" is nothing short of criminal. ultimately we left on the evening of our arrival, forgoing the money we'd already paid upfront for the sake of getting away from the horrible experience. we set off at 11PM at night without a plan, but were delighted to find Kona Coast Resort just a short drive away for the same amount of money that this dump charged us, and wow that place is nice. the hostess of cozy corner kept all the money (which we had paid upfront) and refused to give even a penny refund, but she was kind enough to leave us with the words "you can leave if you want - go cry about it!". this turned out to be one of the most memorable moments of our holiday, but for all the wrong reasons. you are really better off avoiding this place at all costs. also, if you look around the property there is a lot of "fan mail" pinned on notice boards around the living room, supposedly from guests who enjoyed their stay. it's not normal and feels creepy. for what it's worth, i would bet that every single one of them is fake.
